With the experience of successfully organising 9 editions of BEFF, we now bring you the 10th edition of Babul Eco Film Festival, Hyderabad, India.
BEFF Babul Eco Film Festival is dedicated to ENVIRONMENT and ALL FILM Submissions should be related to different aspects of the ENVIRONMENT. By this we refer to films that engage with environmental themes and issues, highlighting the relationship between nature and humanity. The green film should seek to raise awareness about ecological concerns and promote sustainable practices through storytelling and visual representation.
Short Film Contest (SFC):
The Short Film Contest is the competitive section with Prizes for films with duration upto 5 minutes.
Green Film Screenings (GFS):
Non-competitive section of Green Film Screenings is for films upto 60 minutes.
ACTION ON CLIMATE CHANGE:
We have a separate category for UNEP World Environment Day 2026 theme ACTION ON CLIMATE CHANGE. Films should cover one or more aspects of Climate action –
reasons, impacts, solutions, success stories, future projections, etc,. Films submitted under this category with less than 5 minutes duration will be automatically considered for the Short Film Contest.
The selected films are screened in the main festival and also screened in the travelling festival that goes to different cities in India.

Rules:
General Rules for the whole festival:
Films should be related to aspects of Environment, Biodiversity and Sustainable Development.
All genres, including documentaries, narratives, shorts, children’s films, and experimental films,
AI generated, made with Mobile, all types of Animation and PSAs Etc., are all welcome.
Along with the strength of the message, the quality of the film production will also be considered and weighed.

Below <5 Min for Short Film Contest SFC
Below <60 Mins for Green Film Screenings GFS
Format: MP4 / AVI / MOV / 4K – MP4 preferred.
Non-English films should have English Subtitles EST
All selected films will get Laurels, a screening certificate, Social media promos and recognition.
Films made after 1.1.2024 are eligible.
Last date for submission: 1 MAY 2026
Notification Date: While the final notification date is 5 May 2026; we inform the selected films as and when the Jury selects a film. The selected films will be screened from January 2026 through June 2026.
Entry fees are non refundable.
Films submitted with Waiver Codes / without payment of fees are NOT considered for the Prize.
The Jury for pre and final selection of films for 10th BEFF 2026 consist of personalities from the world of environment, media, cinema, and audio-visual, as well as entrepreneurs or artists engaged in and/are sensitive to environmental issues. The decision of the organizers regarding the film selection is final. No enquiries are entertained in this regard. By submitting their films, the filmmakers agree that:
- BEFF can screen the films at different venues during Jan – Jun 2025 and as part of the travelling BEFF festival. While the main festival takes place during June 2026 as per the given dates, the selected films will be screened in the mini festivals that happen at different places throughout the year. Best efforts are put in to invite filmmakers to virtually present their films.
- The trailers of their films will be used in the social media promotions, website etc., with the aim to give enhanced outreach.
- We request the submitters to share with us the official handles of Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X (Twitter) etc., for mentioning and tagging in Social Media.
For the Short Film Contest, the following additional rules also apply:
Duration: Below 5 minutes (including credits)
All genres are welcome.
This is a competitive category with total Prize money ₹ 50,000 INR.
Total prize money of ₹ 25,000/- INR will be awarded to Indian entries – 3 prizes.
Total prize money of ₹ 25,000/- INR will be awarded (Non Indian entries) – 3 prizes.
The exchange rate as on the date of transfer of Prize Money will be applicable.
